EUVDB-ID: #VU49070

Risk: Medium

CVSSv3.1: 6.5 [CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H/E:U/RL:O/RC:C]

CVE-ID: CVE-2020-27717

Description

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input when processing DNS traffic. A remote attacker can pass specially crafted DNS requests to the system and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The affected BIG-IP system temporarily fails to process traffic as it recovers from a Traffic Management Microkernel (TMM) restart, and devices configured in a device group may fail over.

Mitigation

Install updates from vendor's website.
