Description

This security bulletin contains information about 3 secuirty vulnerabilities.

1) Stack-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-27265)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error when processing OPC UA messages. A remote unauthenticated attacker can trick the victim into opening a specially crafted OPC UA message, trigger stack-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.

2) Heap-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-27263)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error when processing OPC UA messages. A remote attacker can send specially crafted OPC UA message, trick the victim into opening it, trigger heap-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.

3) Use-after-free (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-27267)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to a use-after-free error. A remote attacker can create and close OPC UA connections at a high rate that may cause a server to crash.
