Description

This security bulletin contains information about 3 vulnerabilities.

1) Stack-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2021-29097)

CWE-ID: CWE-121 - Stack-based buffer overflow

CVSSv4: CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:A/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N/E:U/U:Amber

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error when parsing the PMF files. A remote unauthenticated attacker can trigger stack-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.

2) Use-after-free (CVE-ID: CVE-2021-29096)

CWE-ID: CWE-416 - Use After Free

CVSSv4: CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:A/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N/E:U/U:Amber

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to compromise vulnerable system.

The vulnerability exists due to a use-after-free error when parsing the PMF files. A remote attacker can execute arbitrary code on the target system.

3) Access of Uninitialized Pointer (CVE-ID: CVE-2021-29098)

CWE-ID: CWE-824 - Access of Uninitialized Pointer

CVSSv4: CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:A/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N/E:U/U:Amber

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to an uninitialized pointer issue when processing PMF files. A remote attacker can use a specially crafted file and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
