Description
This security bulletin contains information about 9 secuirty vulnerabilities.
1) Path traversal (CVE-ID: CVE-2021-29425)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform directory traversal attacks.
The vulnerability exists due to input validation error within the FileNameUtils.normalize method when processing directory traversal sequences, such as "//../foo", or "\..foo". A remote attacker can send a specially crafted request and verify files availability in the parent folder.
2) Inconsistent interpretation of HTTP requests (CVE-ID: CVE-2021-33037)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to preform HTTP request smuggling attacks.
The vulnerability exists due to improper validation of HTTP requests, related to processing of transfer encoding headers. A remote attacker can send a specially crafted HTTP request to the server and smuggle arbitrary HTTP headers.
Successful exploitation of vulnerability may allow an attacker to poison HTTP cache and perform phishing attacks.
3) Resource exhaustion (CVE-ID: CVE-2021-36374)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The vulnerability exists due to application does not properly control consumption of internal resources when processing ZIP archives. A remote attacker can trigger resource exhaustion and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
4) Deserialization of Untrusted Data (CVE-ID: CVE-2021-4104)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to insecure input validation when processing serialized data in JMSAppender, when the attacker has write access to the Log4j configuration. The attacker can provide TopicBindingName and TopicConnectionFactoryBindingName configurations causing JMSAppender to perform JNDI requests that result in remote code execution.
Note this issue only affects Log4j 1.2 when specifically configured to
use JMSAppender, which is not the default.
5) Resource exhaustion (CVE-ID: CVE-2021-36090)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The vulnerability exists due to application does not properly control consumption of internal resources when processing ZIP archives. A remote attacker can trigger resource exhaustion and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
6) Permissions, Privileges, and Access Controls (CVE-ID: CVE-2021-22118)
The vulnerability allows a local user to escalate privileges on the system.
The vulnerability exists due to application does not properly impose security restrictions in the WebFlux application, which leads to security restrictions bypass and privilege escalation.
7) Improper input validation (CVE-ID: CVE-2021-2351)
The vulnerability allows a remote non-authenticated attacker to execute arbitrary code.
The vulnerability exists due to improper input validation within the Advanced Networking Option in Oracle Database Server. A remote non-authenticated attacker can exploit this vulnerability to execute arbitrary code.
8) Improper input validation (CVE-ID: CVE-2021-39139)
The vulnerability allows a remote authenticated user to execute arbitrary code.
The vulnerability exists due to improper input validation within the Tools (XStream) component in Oracle Utilities Testing Accelerator. A remote authenticated user can exploit this vulnerability to execute arbitrary code.
9) Code Injection (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-13936)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to improper input validation. A remote attacker with ability to modify Velocity templates can inject and execute arbitrary Java code on the system with the same privileges as the account running the Servlet container.
