Description

This security bulletin contains information about 2 secuirty vulnerabilities.


1) Out-of-bounds write (CVE-ID: CVE-2019-19906)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to an out-of-bounds write error when processing LDAP queries within the _sasl_add_string() function in common.c file in cyrus-sasl. A remote non-authenticated attacker can create a specially LDAP request to the affected server, trigger off-by-one error in OpenLDAP implementation and crash the service.


2) SQL injection (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-24407)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary SQL queries in database.

The vulnerability exists due to insufficient sanitization of password in the SQL plugin shipped with Cyrus SASL. A remote non-authenticated attacker can send a specially crafted request to the affected application and execute arbitrary SQL commands within the application database.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may allow a remote attacker to read, delete, modify data in database and gain complete control over the affected application.
