This security bulletin contains one medium risk vulnerability.

1) Out-of-bounds read

EUVDB-ID: #VU48482

Risk: Medium

CVSSv3.1: 5.9 [CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N/E:P/RL:O/RC:C]

CVE-ID: CVE-2020-25713

CWE-ID: CWE-125 - Out-of-bounds read

Exploit availability: No

Description

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to gain access to potentially sensitive information.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary condition within the raptor_xml_writer_start_element_common() function in raptor_xml_writer.c. A remote attacker can create a specially crafted PDF file, trick the victim into opening it, trigger an out-of-bounds read error and read contents of memory on the system.

Mitigation

Update the affected package raptor to the latest version.
