SB2022112238 - Multiple vulnerabilities in Sourcegraph

Description

This security bulletin contains information about 2 secuirty vulnerabilities.

1) OS Command Injection (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-41943)

The vulnerability allows a remote privileged user to execute arbitrary shell commands on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to improper input validation within the experimental customGitFetch feature . A remote privileged user (site admin) can pass specially crafted data to the application and execute arbitrary OS commands on the Gitserver.

2) OS Command Injection (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-41942)

The vulnerability allows a remote user to execute arbitrary shell commands on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to improper input validation on the host parameter of the /list-gitolite endpoint. A remote user can pass specially crafted data to gitserver and execute arbitrary OS commands inside the container.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.

Remediation

Install update from vendor's website.
