Security Bulletin

This security bulletin contains one medium risk vulnerability.

1) Memory leak

EUVDB-ID: #VU82474

Risk: Medium

CVSSv3.1: 5.7 [CVSS:3.1/AV:A/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H/E:U/RL:O/RC:C]

CVE-ID: CVE-2023-22406

CWE-ID: CWE-401 - Missing release of memory after effective lifetime

Exploit availability: No

Description

The vulnerability allows a remote non-authenticated attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

A Missing Release of Memory after Effective Lifetime vulnerability in the kernel of Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows an adjacent, unauthenticated attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS).

In a segment-routing scenario with OSPF as IGP, when a peer interface continuously flaps, next-hop churn will happen and a continuous increase in Routing Protocol Daemon (rpd) memory consumption will be observed.

Mitigation

Install updates from vendor's website.

Vulnerable software versions

Junos OS Evolved: 20.4 - 22.2-EVO

Juniper Junos OS: 19.3 - 22.1R1-S2
