Description

The vulnerability allows a local user to escalate privileges on the system.

The vulnerability exists due to a use-after-free error in sock_getsockopt() function in net/core/sock.c due to SO_PEERCRED and SO_PEERGROUPS race with listen() function (and connect() function) in the Linux kernel. A local user can exploit the use-after-free error and crash the system or escalate privileges on the system.

The vulnerability exists due to a NULL pointer dereference error in the Linux kernel's Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol (L2TP). A missing lock when clearing sk_user_data can lead to a race condition and NULL pointer dereference. A local user could use this flaw to potentially crash the system causing a denial of service.
