SB2023051005 - Multiple vulnerabilities in MicroEngine Mailform

Description

This security bulletin contains information about 2 vulnerabilities.

1) Arbitrary file upload (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-27397)

CWE-ID: CWE-434 - Unrestricted Upload of File with Dangerous Type

CVSSv4: 9.2 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:P/PR:N/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to compromise vulnerable system.

The vulnerability exists due to insufficient validation of file during file upload. A remote attacker can upload a malicious file and execute it on the server.

2) Path traversal (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-27507)

CWE-ID: CWE-22 - Improper Limitation of a Pathname to a Restricted Directory ('Path Traversal')

CVSSv4: 6.3 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:P/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:L/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform directory traversal attacks.

The vulnerability exists due to input validation error when processing directory traversal sequences. A remote attacker can send a specially crafted HTTP request and save arbitrary files on the system.
