Description
This security bulletin contains information about 10 secuirty vulnerabilities.
1) Buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-3618)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service attack.
The vulnerability exists due to buffer overflow in the Fax3Encode() function in libtiff/tif_fax3.c. A remote unauthenticated attacker can trick the victim into opening a specially crafted file and perform a denial of service attack.
2) Heap-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-3570)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error in tiffcrop.c utility in libtiff when processing TIFF files. A remote attacker can pass specially crafted file to the application, trigger a heap-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
3) Buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-25434)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the system.
The vulnerability exists due to buffer overflow in the extractContigSamplesBytes() at /libtiff/tools/tiffcrop.c:3215. A remote unauthenticated attacker can trick the victim into opening a specially crafted file and execute arbitrary code on the system.
4) Heap-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-26965)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error within the loadImage() function in tools/tiffcrop.c. A remote attacker can pass specially crafted TIFF file to the application, trigger a heap-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
5) NULL pointer dereference (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-3316)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The vulnerability exists due to a NULL pointer dereference error within the TIFFClose() function. A remote attacker can pass specially TIFf file to the application and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
6) Buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-25435)
The vulnerability allows a local attacker to perform a denial of service attack.
The vulnerability exists due to buffer overflow in the extractContigSamplesShifted8bits() at /libtiff/tools/tiffcrop.c:3753. A local unauthenticated attacker can trick the victim into opening a specially crafted file and perform a denial of service attack.
7) Buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-26966)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error within the uv_encode() function. A remote attacker can pass a specially crafted TIFF file to the application, trigger memory corruption and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
8) Buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-25433)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error when processing TIFF images within the rotateImage() function in /libtiff/tools/tiffcrop.c. A remote attacker can pass a specially crafted image to the application, trigger memory corruption and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
9) Heap-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-48281)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error within the processCropSelections() function in tools/tiffcrop.c in LibTIFF. A remote attacker can pass a specially crafted TIFF image to the application, trigger a heap-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
10) Heap-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-3164)
The vulnerability allows a local attacker to perform a denial of service attack.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error in the extractImageSection() function in tools/tiffcrop.c. A local attacker can trick the victim into opening a specially crafted data, trigger a heap-based buffer overflow and perform a denial of service attack.
