This security bulletin contains information about 2 secuirty vulnerabilities.


1) Resource management error (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-30256)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to bypass expected security restrictions.

The vulnerability exists due to the way MaraDNS handles cached domain names. A revoked domain name can still be resolvable for a long time, including expired domains and taken-down malicious domains.


2) Integer underflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-31137)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to integer underflow when handling a DNS packet with an Answer RR of qtype 16 (TXT record) and any qclass. A remote attacker can send a specially crafted request to the server, trigger an integer underflow and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
