Description
This security bulletin contains information about 2 vulnerabilities.
1) Resource management error (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-30256)
CWE-ID: CWE-399 - Resource Management Errors
CVSSv4: CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:H/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N/E:U/U:Green
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to bypass expected security restrictions.
The vulnerability exists due to the way MaraDNS handles cached domain names. A revoked domain name can still be resolvable for a long time, including expired domains and taken-down malicious domains.
2) Integer underflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-31137)
CWE-ID: CWE-191 - Integer underflow
CVSSv4: CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N/E:U/U:Green
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The vulnerability exists due to integer underflow when handling a DNS packet with an Answer RR of qtype 16 (TXT record) and any qclass. A remote attacker can send a specially crafted request to the server, trigger an integer underflow and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
