This security bulletin contains information about 2 secuirty vulnerabilities.


1) Improper Verification of Cryptographic Signature (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-50228)

The vulnerability allows a local user to compromise the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to improper verification of a cryptographic signature. A local user can escalate privileges and execute arbitrary code in the context of root.


2) Out-of-bounds write (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-50227)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to compromise vulnerable system.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error when processing untrusted input within the virtio-gpu virtual device. A remote attacker can create a specially crafted file, trick the victim into opening it using the affected software, trigger an out-of-bounds write and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
