EUVDB-ID: #VU88449

Risk: Medium

CVSSv4.0: 6.6 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N/E:U/U:Green]

CVE-ID: CVE-2024-21598

CWE-ID: CWE-1286 - Improper Validation of Syntactic Correctness of Input

Exploit availability: No

Description

The vulnerability allows a remote non-authenticated attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to improper validation of syntactic correctness of input error in the Routing Protocol Daemon (rpd). A remote non-authenticated attacker can cause a Denial of Service (DoS).

If a BGP update is received over an established BGP session which contains a tunnel encapsulation attribute with a specifically malformed TLV, rpd will crash and restart.

Mitigation

Install updates from vendor's website.
