Description
This security bulletin contains information about 2 secuirty vulnerabilities.
1) Heap-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-1916)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error within the extractImageSection() function in tools/tiffcrop.c. A remote attacker can pass specially crafted data to the application, trigger a heap-based buffer overflow and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
2) Heap-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-3164)
The vulnerability allows a local attacker to perform a denial of service attack.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error in the extractImageSection() function in tools/tiffcrop.c. A local attacker can trick the victim into opening a specially crafted data, trigger a heap-based buffer overflow and perform a denial of service attack.
