Description

This security bulletin contains information about 2 secuirty vulnerabilities.


1) Stack-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-0444)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error when parsing AV1-encoded video files. A remote attacker can trick the victim to open a specially crafted video file, trigger a stack-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.


2) Integer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-4453)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to integer overflow within the parsing of EXIF metadata. A remote attacker can pass specially crafted data to the application, trigger integer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
