Description
This security bulletin contains information about 6 secuirty vulnerabilities.
1) Use of uninitialized resource (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-43502)
The vulnerability allows a local user to bypass certain security restrictions.
The vulnerability exists due to usage of uninitialized resources in Windows Kernel. A local user can pass specially crafted data to the application, trigger uninitialized usage of resources and gain elevated privileges on the target system.
2) Time-of-check Time-of-use (TOCTOU) Race Condition (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-43511)
The vulnerability allows a local user to compromise the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to a time-of-check, time-of-use (TOCTOU) race condition in Windows Kernel. A local user can gain elevated privileges on the target system.
3) Heap-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-43527)
The vulnerability allows a local user to escalate privileges on the system.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error in Windows Kernel. A local user can pass specially crafted data to the application, trigger a heap-based buffer overflow and gain elevated privileges on the target system.
4) NULL pointer dereference (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-43520)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The vulnerability exists due to a NULL pointer dereference error in Windows Kernel. A remote user can trick a victim to open as pecially crafted file and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
5) Untrusted Pointer Dereference (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-37979)
The vulnerability allows a local user to escalate privileges on the system.
The vulnerability exists due to untrusted pointer dereference in Windows Kernel. A local administrator can gain elevated privileges on the target system.
6) Use-after-free (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-43570)
The vulnerability allows a local user to compromise vulnerable system.
