Description

This security bulletin contains information about 2 secuirty vulnerabilities.


1) Stack-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-29507)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error when processing the CIDFSubstPath and CIDFSubstFont parameters. A remote attacker can trigger a stack-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.


2) Insecure DLL loading (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-33871)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to compromise vulnerable system.

The vulnerability exists due to the "Driver" parameter for the "opvp"/"oprp" device specifies the name of a dynamic library and allows any library to be loaded. A remote attacker can pass a specially crafted document to the application and execute arbitrary library on the system.

Successful exploitation of the vulnerability may allow an attacker to compromise the affected system.
