Description
This security bulletin contains information about 3 vulnerabilities.
1) Out-of-bounds write (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-11403)
CWE-ID: CWE-787 - Out-of-bounds write
CVSSv4: 8.4 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:A/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to compromise vulnerable system.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error when processing JPEG images. A remote attacker can create a specially crafted file, trick the victim into opening it using the affected software, trigger an out-of-bounds write and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
2) Stack-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-11498)
CWE-ID: CWE-121 - Stack-based buffer overflow
CVSSv4: 8.4 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:A/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error when handling JPEG images. A remote unauthenticated attacker can trick the victim into opening a specially crafted image file, trigger a stack-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
3) Input validation error (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-50602)
CWE-ID: CWE-20 - Improper input validation
CVSSv4: 6.9 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:A/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The vulnerability exists due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input within the XML_ResumeParser function. A remote attacker can pass specially crafted XML input to the application and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
