This security bulletin contains information about 176 secuirty vulnerabilities.


1) Out-of-bounds read (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-41091)

The vulnerability allows a local user to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to an out-of-bounds read error within the tun_xdp_one() function in drivers/net/tun.c. A local user can perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.


2) Memory corruption (CVE-ID: CVE-2017-11468)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to cause DoS condition on the target system.

The weakness exists due to insufficient restriction of amount of user-supplied content. A remote attacker can use manifest endpoint to trigger memory corruption and cause the application to crash.

Successful exploitation of the vulnerability results in denial of service.

3) Improper input validation (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-22102)

The vulnerability allows a remote non-authenticated attacker to execute arbitrary code.

The vulnerability exists due to improper input validation within the Connector/J component in MySQL Connectors. A remote non-authenticated attacker can exploit this vulnerability to execute arbitrary code.


4) Use of uninitialized variable (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-26147)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to usage of an uninitialized variable when using the LoadIndexFile or DownloadIndexFile functions in the repo package or the LoadDir function in the plugin package. If index.yaml file or a plugins plugin.yaml file are missing in the repository, the application crashes.


5) Improper input validation (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-21147)

The vulnerability allows a remote non-authenticated attacker to read and manipulate data.

The vulnerability exists due to improper input validation within the Hotspot component in Oracle GraalVM Enterprise Edition. A remote non-authenticated attacker can exploit this vulnerability to read and manipulate data.


6) Resource management error (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-2253)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to improper management of internal resources within the application. A remote attacker can send specially crafted requests to the "/v2/_catalog" API endpoint and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.


7) Use-after-free (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-36886)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to compromise the affected system.

The vulnerability exists due to a use-after-free error within the tipc_buf_append() function in net/tipc/msg.c when processing fragmented TIPC messages. A remote attacker can send specially crafted packets to the system, trigger a use-after-free error and execute arbitrary code on the system in the context of the kernel.


8) Use-after-free (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-36971)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the system.

The vulnerability exists due to a use-after-free error within the xfrm_link_failure() function in net/xfrm/xfrm_policy.c, within the dst_entry ip6_dst_check() and ip6_dst_check() functions in net/ipv6/route.c, within the dst_entry ipv4_dst_check() and ip_do_redirect() functions in net/ipv4/route.c. A remote attacker can send specially crafted packets to the system and execute arbitrary code.

Note, the vulnerability is being actively exploited in the wild.


9) Out-of-bounds read (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-41090)

The vulnerability allows a local user to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to an out-of-bounds read error within the tap_get_user_xdp() function in drivers/net/tap.c. A local user can perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.


10) OS Command Injection (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-32487)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary shell commands on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to improper input validation when handling newline characters in the filename in filename.c. A remote attacker can trick the victim to pass a specially crafted filename to the affected command and execute arbitrary OS commands on the system.


11) Resource exhaustion (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-5685)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to application does not properly control consumption of internal resources in NotifierState, when the chain of notifier states becomes problematically large. A remote attacker can trigger resource exhaustion and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.


12) Path traversal (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-39331)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform directory traversal attacks.

The vulnerability exists due to insufficient patch for #VU77594 (CVE-2023-30584). A remote user can send a specially crafted request and read arbitrary files on the system.


13) Path traversal (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-39332)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform directory traversal attacks.

The vulnerability exists due to input validation error when processing directory traversal sequences in paths stored in Uint8Array. A remote attacker can send a specially crafted HTTP request and read arbitrary files on the system.


14) Improper Privilege Management (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-22017)

The vulnerability allows a local user to escalate privileges.

The vulnerability exists due to setuid() does not affect libuv's internal io_uring operations if initialized before the call to setuid(). A local user can escalate privileges on the system.


15) Reachable assertion (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-4076)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to a reachable assertion when serving both stale cache data and authoritative zone content. A remote attacker can send specially crafted queries to the DNS server to trigger an assertion failure and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.


16) Out-of-bounds read (CVE-ID: CVE-2021-46984)

The vulnerability allows a local user to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to an out-of-bounds read error within the dd_request_merge() function in block/mq-deadline.c, within the kyber_limit_depth() function in block/kyber-iosched.c, within the __blk_mq_sched_bio_merge() function in block/blk-mq-sched.c, within the bfq_remove_request() function in block/bfq-iosched.c. A local user can perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.


17) Input validation error (CVE-ID: CVE-2021-47018)

20) Inconsistent interpretation of HTTP requests (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-1135)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform HTTP request smuggling attacks.

The vulnerability exists due to improper validation of HTTP requests when handling Transfer-Encoding headers. A remote attacker can send a specially crafted HTTP request to the server and smuggle arbitrary HTTP headers.

Successful exploitation of vulnerability may allow an attacker to poison HTTP cache and perform phishing attacks.


21) Input validation error (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-38428)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to bypass implemented security restrictions.

The vulnerability exists due to improper input validation of URL when parsing strings with semicolons within the scheme_leading_string() function in url.c. A remote attacker can pass a specially crafted URL to the application and influence its behavior in which data that was supposed to be in the userinfo subcomponent is misinterpreted to be part of the host subcomponent.


22) Out-of-bounds read (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-52476)

The vulnerability allows a local user to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary condition within the branch_type() and get_branch_type() functions in arch/x86/events/utils.c. A local user can trigger an out-of-bounds read error and crash the kernel.

36) Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-24806)

The disclosed vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform SSRF attacks.

The vulnerability exists due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input when handling hostnames longer than 256 characters within the uv_getaddrinfo() function in src/unix/getaddrinfo.c and its windows counterpart src/win/getaddrinfo.c. A remote attacker can pass a specially crafted hostname to the application, which can be resolved to an attacker controlled IP address and initiate unauthorized requests to arbitrary systems.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may allow a remote attacker gain access to sensitive data, located in the local network or send malicious requests to other servers from the vulnerable system.


37) Heap-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2018-15209)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to cause DoS condition on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to heap-based buffer overflow in ChopUpSingleUncompressedStrip in tif_dirread.c. A remote unauthenticated attacker can trick the victim into opening a specially crafted crafted TIFF file, trigger memory corruption and cause the affected software to crash, resulting in a DoS condition.


38) Buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-25433)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error when processing TIFF images within the rotateImage()  function in /libtiff/tools/tiffcrop.c. A remote attacker can pass a specially crafted image to the application, trigger memory corruption and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.


39) Out-of-bounds write (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-52356)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to compromise vulnerable system.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error when processing untrusted input within the TIFFReadRGBATileExt() API. A remote attacker can pass a specially crafted TIFF file to the application, trigger an out-of-bounds write and execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to gain access to potentially sensitive information.

The vulnerability exists due to the application does not clear the Proxy-Authentication HTTP header when handling cross-origin redirects. A remote attacker can gain access to sensitive information.


41) Information disclosure (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-30260)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to gain access to potentially sensitive information.

The vulnerability exists due to the application clears Authorization and Proxy-Authorization headers during cross-origin redirects for the fetch() method, however does not clear them for the undici.request() method, which can leak sensitive information to an unauthorized party.


42) Insufficient verification of data authenticity (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-30261)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform spoofing attack.

The vulnerability exists due to the application does not verify authenticity of data. A remote attacker can alter the "integrity" option passed to fetch(), allowing fetch() to accept requests as valid even if they have been tampered.

54) Security restrictions bypass (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-23648)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to gain access to sensitive information.

The vulnerability exists due to an error when handling specially crafted image configuration in containerd where containers launched through containerd’s CRI implementation. A remote attacker can bypass any policy-based enforcement on container setup and access the read-only copies of arbitrary files and directories on the host.


55) Improper Authentication (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-2975)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to bypass authentication process.

The vulnerability exists due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input in mod_rewrite when parsing encoded question marks in backreferences. A remote attacker can execute scripts in directories permitted by the configuration but not directly reachable by any URL or source disclosure of scripts meant to only to be executed as CGI.
