EUVDB-ID: #VU107893

Risk: Medium

CVSSv4.0: 1 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:A/VC:L/VI:N/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N/E:U/U:Green]

CVE-ID: CVE-2025-43961

CWE-ID: CWE-125 - Out-of-bounds read

Exploit availability: No

Description

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to gain access to potentially sensitive information.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary condition in metadata/tiff.cpp. A remote attacker can create a specially crafted file, trick the victim into opening it, trigger an out-of-bounds read error and read contents of memory on the system.

Mitigation

Update the affected package libraw to the latest version.

Vulnerable software versions

Ubuntu: 16.04 - 25.04

libraw15 (Ubuntu package): before Ubuntu Pro

libraw16 (Ubuntu package): before Ubuntu Pro
