Description
This security bulletin contains information about 2 secuirty vulnerabilities.
1) Integer underflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-11477)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to integer underflow within the implementation of the Zstandard decompression. A remote attacker can trick the victim into opening a specially crafted archive, trigger an integer underflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
2) Security features bypass (CVE-ID: CVE-2025-0411)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to bypass implemented security restrictions.
The vulnerability exists due to application ignores the Mark-of-the-Web identifier when extracting files from an archive. A remote attacker can trick the victim into executing files extracted by the application as no additional security warning occurs.
Note, the vulnerability is being actively exploited in the wild.
