This security bulletin contains information about 2 vulnerabilities.

1) Off-by-one (CVE-ID: CVE-2025-47711)

CWE-ID: CWE-193 - Off-by-one Error

CVSSv4: CVSS:4.0/AV:A/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N/E:U/U:Green

The vulnerability allows a remote user to perform a denial of service attack.

The vulnerability exists due to an off-by-one error handling responses from its plugins regarding the status of data blocks. A remote client can request for a very large data range to trigger an off-by-one error and crash the server.

2) Reachable assertion (CVE-ID: CVE-2025-47712)

CWE-ID: CWE-617 - Reachable Assertion

CVSSv4: CVSS:4.0/AV:A/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N/E:U/U:Green

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to a reachable assertion in the nbdkit "blocksize" filter. A remote client can request block status information for a very large data range, trigger an integer overflow and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
