Description
This security bulletin contains information about 2 secuirty vulnerabilities.
1) Out-of-bounds read (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-35367)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to gain access to potentially sensitive information.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary condition in libavcodec/ppc/vp8dsp_altivec.c. A remote attacker can trigger an out-of-bounds read error and read contents of memory on the system.
2) Integer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-35366)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to integer overflow within the parse_options() function in sbgdec.c in libavformat module. A remote attacker can pass specially crafted data to the application, trigger an integer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
Remediation
