The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to gain access to sensitive information.

The vulnerability exists due to the client-side settings are not checked before sending local files to a  remote MySQL server. A remote attacker can create a rogue MySQL server that emulates authorization, ignores client flags and requests arbitrary files from the client by sending a LOAD_LOCAL instruction packet and read arbitrary files on the system.
