The vulnerability allows a local user to compromise vulnerable system.

The vulnerability exists due to a use-after-free error in Windows File Explorer. A local user can wait for a victim to perform minimal interaction with a malicious file such as selecting (single-click) or inspecting (right-click) and gain elevated privileges on the target system.
