Description
This security bulletin contains information about 6 secuirty vulnerabilities.
1) XXE attack (CVE-ID: CVE-2017-15691)
The vulnerability allows a remote unauthenticated attacker to obtain potentially sensitive information on the target system. The weakness exists due to improper restriction of XML External Entity (XXE) references. A remote attacker can trick the victim into opening a specially crafted XML document that submits malicious XML entities that are parsed by the XML parser, gain access to potentially sensitive information, such as local files or other internal information.
2) Buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-47072)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error when processing unstrusted input. A remote attacker can pass a specially crafted stream to the application, trigger a stack overflow and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability requires that XStream is configured to use the BinaryStreamDriver.
3) Integer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-45492)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to integer overflow within the nextScaffoldPart() function in xmlparse.c. A remote attacker can pass specially crafted data to the application, trigger an integer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
4) Improper input validation (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-25269)
The vulnerability allows a remote non-authenticated attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The vulnerability exists due to improper input validation within the DC-Specific Component (libheif) component in Oracle Outside In Technology. A remote non-authenticated attacker can exploit this vulnerability to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
5) Improper input validation (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-36052)
The vulnerability allows a remote non-authenticated attacker to manipulate data.
The vulnerability exists due to improper input validation within the DC-Specific Component (unrar) component in Oracle Outside In Technology. A remote non-authenticated attacker can exploit this vulnerability to manipulate data.
6) Input validation error (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-33899)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service or spoofing attack.
The vulnerability exists due to insufficient validation of ANSI escape sequences within the CLI interface. A remote attacker can pass specially crafted input via CLI and spoof the archive output or perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
Note, the vulnerability affects Linux and Unix installations only.
