Description

This security bulletin contains information about 4 secuirty vulnerabilities.

1) Integer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2025-14422)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to integer overflow within the load_image() function in plug-ins/common/file-pnm.c when parsing PNM files. A remote attacker can trick the victim into opening a specially crafted file, trigger an integer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.

2) Stack-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2025-14423)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error within the load_image() function in plug-ins/common/file-iff.c file when parsing LBM files. A remote unauthenticated attacker can trick the victim into opening a specially crafted file, trigger a stack-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.

3) Use-after-free (CVE-ID: CVE-2025-14424)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to compromise vulnerable system.

The vulnerability exists due to a use-after-free error when parsing XCF files. A remote attacker can trick the victim into opening a specially crafted file, trigger a use-after-free error and execute arbitrary code on the system.

4) Heap-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2025-14425)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error within the load_image() function in plug-ins/common/file-jp2.c. A remote attacker can trick the victim into opening a specially crafted JP2  file, trigger a heap-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
