SB2026012308 - Multiple vulnerabilities in Go implementation of The Update Framework (TUF)

Description

This security bulletin contains information about 2 secuirty vulnerabilities.

1) Reachable assertion (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-23991)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to a reachable assertion within malformed server response. A remote attacker can cause a denial of service (DoS) attack.

2) Improper Verification of Cryptographic Signature (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-23992)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to compromise the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to improper validation of configured threshold for delegations. A remote attacker can cause unathorized modification to TUF metadata files.
