1) Type conversion (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-23323)

The vulnerability allows a local user to cause a denial of service, disclose sensitive information, and modify system settings.

The vulnerability exists due to improper input validation in the macsmc-hwmon driver when processing sensor data. A local user can trigger out-of-bounds memory access and incorrect float value conversions to cause a denial of service, disclose sensitive information, and modify system settings.

The attacker must have access to the system with user privileges to interact with the hwmon interface. The vulnerability specifically affects sensor population logic and float conversion routines in the Apple Silicon SMC hwmon driver.
