Description

This security bulletin contains information about 1 security vulnerability.

1) Incorrect Control Flow Scoping (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-23283)

The vulnerability allows a local user to cause a denial of service.

The vulnerability exists due to improper reference counting in the fp9931_hwmon_read() function when handling hardware monitoring requests. A local user can trigger a failed regmap_read() call to cause a power management (PM) runtime reference leak.

The issue specifically occurs in the regulator driver for the FP9931 chip, where failure to release a PM runtime reference after a hardware register read failure leads to a resource leak that can accumulate over time.
