Description
This security bulletin contains information about 5 secuirty vulnerabilities.
1) Improper validation of certificate with host mismatch (CVE-ID: CVE-2025-68161)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform MitM attack.
The vulnerability exists due to the Socket Appender does not perform TLS hostname verification of the peer certificate, even when the "verifyHostName" configuration attribute or the "log4j2.sslVerifyHostName" system property is set to true. A remote attacker can perform MitM attack and intercept or redirect the log traffic.
2) Out-of-bounds read (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-36124)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to gain access to potentially sensitive information.
The vulnerability exists due Snappy tries to read outside the bounds of the given byte arrays when uncompressing certain data. A remote attacker can create a non-deterministic behavior or crash the JVM.
3) Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) (CVE-ID: CVE-2025-27817)
The disclosed vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform SSRF attacks.
The vulnerability exists due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input in Apache Kafka Client. The application accepts configuration data for setting the SASL/OAUTHBEARER connection with the brokers, including "sasl.oauthbearer.token.endpoint.url" and "sasl.oauthbearer.jwks.endpoint.url". A remote attacker can send a specially crafted HTTP request and trick the application to initiate requests to arbitrary systems.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may allow a remote attacker gain access to sensitive data, located in the local network or send malicious requests to other servers from the vulnerable system.
4) Uncontrolled Recursion (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-1436)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The vulnerability exists due to uncontrolled recursion when constructing a JSONArray from a Collection that contains a self-reference in one of its elements. A remote attacker can pass specially crafted data to the application and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
5) Improper access control (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-29371)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to gain unauthorized access to otherwise restricted functionality.
The vulnerability exists due to improper access restrictions. A remote attacker can cause a Denial-of-Service (DoS) condition by crafting a malicious JSON Web Encryption (JWE) token with an exceptionally high compression ratio. When this token is processed by the server, it results in significant memory allocation and processing time during decompression.
