The vulnerability allows a local user to cause a denial of service.
The vulnerability exists due to a memory leak in __mmap_region() when handling a MAP_SHARED mmap of /dev/zero and a subsequent failure in VMA creation. A local user can trigger the error path to cause a denial of service.
Exploitation is reproducible with fault injection.
