The vulnerability allows a local user to cause a denial of service.
The vulnerability exists due to improper power management handling in libata-core when managing link power management for the ST1000DM010-2EP102 drive. A local user can trigger disk activity on an affected system to cause a denial of service.
The issue may result in random system freezes.
