Description
This security bulletin contains information about 3 vulnerabilities.
1) Heap-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-39043)
CWE-ID: CWE-122 - Heap-based Buffer Overflow
CVSSv4: 8.4 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:A/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code.
The vulnerability exists due to a heap-based buffer overflow in the Matroska demuxer when parsing a crafted Matroska file with bz2-compressed tracks. A remote attacker can provide a specially crafted Matroska file to execute arbitrary code.
The issue can also cause an application crash.
2) Integer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-39044)
CWE-ID: CWE-190 - Integer overflow
CVSSv4: 6.7 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:A/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to cause a denial of service.
The vulnerability exists due to integer overflow in the WAV parser (wavparse) when parsing malformed WAV files with cue chunks. A remote attacker can trick the victim into opening a crafted WAV file to cause a denial of service.
Memory exhaustion may also occur during cue chunk parsing.
3) Integer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-53705)
CWE-ID: CWE-190 - Integer overflow
CVSSv4: 6.7 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:A/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to cause a denial of service.
The vulnerability exists due to integer overflow in the wavpackdec element when processing malformed WavPack audio files. A remote attacker can trick the victim into opening a crafted audio file to cause a denial of service.
