Description
This security bulletin contains information about 1 vulnerability.
1) Race condition (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-68338)
CWE-ID: CWE-362 - Concurrent Execution using Shared Resource with Improper Synchronization ('Race Condition')
CVSSv4: 6.8 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a local user to cause a denial of service.
The vulnerability exists due to a race condition in packet_set_ring() and packet fanout hook handling in net/packet/af_packet.c when reconfiguring a packet socket ring while a network device is being unregistered. A local user can trigger ring reconfiguration during device unregister handling to cause a denial of service.
The issue occurs when a stale running state causes fanout hook re-registration after the device binding has already been invalidated.
Remediation
