The vulnerability allows a local user to cause a denial of service.
The vulnerability exists due to improper resource shutdown in xe_vm_create() in the drm/xe virtual memory management code when handling creation failures after SVM initialization. A local user can trigger drm_gpuvm_resv_object_alloc() allocation failure to cause a denial of service.
For fault-mode VMs, the issue can also leave pagemap owner and pagemap resources unreleased on the error path.
