Description
This security bulletin contains information about 1 vulnerability.
1) Race condition (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-68146)
CWE-ID: CWE-362 - Concurrent Execution using Shared Resource with Improper Synchronization ('Race Condition')
CVSSv4: 6.8 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a local user to cause a denial of service.
The vulnerability exists due to a race condition in the ftrace trace_parser handling in ftrace_regex_write(), ftrace_graph_write(), ftrace_regex_release(), and ftrace_graph_release() when processing concurrent writes and release operations on a shared trace file descriptor. A local user can issue concurrent operations from multiple threads to cause a denial of service.
The issue occurs when a userspace process shares an opened trace file descriptor across multiple threads, causing corruption of the parser's internal state fields.
Remediation
Install update from vendor's website.
