The vulnerability allows a local user to cause a denial of service.

The vulnerability exists due to incorrect permission assignment for critical resource within "nsswitch/pam_winbind.c" in the mkhomedir process in pam_winbind when opening a PAM session for an account whose home directory resolves to / or another sensitive system path. A local user can initiate a PAM session for such an account to cause a denial of service.

This is only exploitable when mkhomedir is explicitly enabled in pam_winbind.conf.
