Description

1) Stack-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-74438)

CWE-ID: CWE-121 - Stack-based buffer overflow

CVSSv4: 8.5 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]

The vulnerability allows a local user to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service.

The vulnerability exists due to a stack-based buffer overflow in sun4i_ss_prng_seed() in the sun4i_ss_prng rng implementation when processing a seed supplied through the AF_ALG "rng" algorithm interface. A local user can supply an oversized seed to trigger memory corruption and execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service.

The vulnerable code path is described as only theoretically usable via the "rng" algorithm type of AF_ALG.
