Description
This security bulletin contains information about 1 vulnerability.
1) Race condition (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-72447)
CWE-ID: CWE-362 - Concurrent Execution using Shared Resource with Improper Synchronization ('Race Condition')
CVSSv4: 4.8 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:L/VI:N/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a local user to disclose uninitialized kernel memory to userspace.
The vulnerability exists due to a race condition in sctp_diag endpoint dumping when traversing endpoint address lists during diagnostic dumping without holding the socket lock. A local user can trigger concurrent socket operations while requesting SCTP diagnostic endpoint data to disclose uninitialized kernel memory to userspace.
The issue occurs because address counts gathered under RCU protection can become inconsistent before the subsequent copy operation.
Remediation
Install update from vendor's website.
