CWE-ID: CWE-284 - Improper Access Control
CVSSv4: 6.8 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a local user to cause a denial of service.
The vulnerability exists due to improper resource access in __in_uprobe_trampoline in arch/x86/kernel/uprobes.c when checking whether an instruction pointer is in an uprobe trampoline during uprobe unregister and optimization handling. A local user can trigger the vulnerable code path to cause a denial of service.
The issue occurs because the check uses the tracer context rather than the traced process context for VMA lookup.
