Description
This security bulletin contains information about 1 vulnerability.
1) Integer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-72349)
CWE-ID: CWE-190 - Integer overflow
CVSSv4: 4.8 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:N/VI:L/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a local user to bypass intended rate-based matching logic.
The vulnerability exists due to integer truncation in xt_rateest_mt() in netfilter xt_rateest when processing rate estimator values on high-speed links. A local user can trigger rate comparisons involving byte rates above 2^32-1 to bypass intended rate-based matching logic.
The issue occurs on links faster than approximately 34 Gbps, where the byte rate may exceed 4.3 GBps and no longer fits in 32-bit variables.
Remediation
Install update from vendor's website.
