The vulnerability allows a local user to cause a denial of service.
The vulnerability exists due to a race condition in make_uffd_wp_huge_pte() in fs/proc/task_mmu.c when handling PAGEMAP_SCAN write-protection of a present HugeTLB PTE. A local user can trigger the race to cause a denial of service.
The issue can cause hardware Dirty or Accessed updates in the live PTE to be lost.
