Description
This security bulletin contains information about 1 vulnerability.
1) Race condition (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-72122)
CWE-ID: CWE-362 - Concurrent Execution using Shared Resource with Improper Synchronization ('Race Condition')
CVSSv4: 4.8 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:N/VI:L/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a local user to cause the socket to match traffic from unintended CAN interfaces.
The vulnerability exists due to a race condition in bcm_sendmsg() in net/can/bcm.c when processing CAN BCM socket operations concurrently with device unregistration or concurrent socket binding. A local user can trigger concurrent operations on a shared socket to cause the socket to match traffic from unintended CAN interfaces.
Exploitation requires a race with concurrent bcm_notify() or bcm_connect() updates to the socket state.
Remediation
Install update from vendor's website.
