Description
This security bulletin contains information about 1 vulnerability.
1) Race condition (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-72119)
CWE-ID: CWE-362 - Concurrent Execution using Shared Resource with Improper Synchronization ('Race Condition')
CVSSv4: 6.8 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a local user to cause a denial of service.
The vulnerability exists due to a race condition in the net/can/bcm.c CAN BCM transmission handling when updating existing transmit operations from userspace while transmit and timeout processing occur concurrently. A local user can send crafted CAN BCM configuration data to trigger inconsistent frame or timer state and cause a denial of service.
The issue involves partially updated or unvalidated frame data being observable during concurrent transmission processing, and torn 64-bit ktime_t reads on 32-bit platforms.
Remediation
Install update from vendor's website.
