CWE-ID: CWE-20 - Improper input validation

CVSSv4: 6.8 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]

The vulnerability allows a local user to cause a denial of service.

The vulnerability exists due to improper input validation in bcm_rx_setup() in the CAN BCM subsystem when processing RX_SETUP messages with RX_RTR_FRAME. A local user can supply a crafted RTR-reply frame with an invalid length to cause a denial of service.

The issue affects RTR replies configured through RX_SETUP and involves validation of CAN and CAN FD frame length limits.
