The vulnerability allows a local attacker to cause data corruption.

The vulnerability exists due to improper handling of error conditions in compaction_free() when processing pages during memory compaction. A local attacker can trigger free_pages_prepare() to fail and cause corrupted pages to be added back to the free page list to cause data corruption.
