Description

This security bulletin contains information about 1 vulnerability.

1) Improper Initialization (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-68467)

CWE-ID: CWE-665 - Improper Initialization

CVSSv4: 6.8 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]

The vulnerability allows a local user to cause a denial of service.

The vulnerability exists due to improper initialization in the mchp23k256 SPI flash driver when probing id-table-only SPI device matches. A local user can attach or register a device that matches through the SPI id table to cause a denial of service.

The issue occurs because the driver may use incorrect chip capacity data and wrong MTD geometry for non-OF SPI modalias matches.
