Description
This security bulletin contains information about 1 vulnerability.
1) Race condition (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-74578)
CWE-ID: CWE-362 - Concurrent Execution using Shared Resource with Improper Synchronization ('Race Condition')
CVSSv4: 8.4 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a local user to disclose plaintext and compromise cryptographic operation integrity.
The vulnerability exists due to improper synchronization of shared cryptographic state in the AIO/async path in skcipher_recvmsg() when handling async skcipher receive operations. A local user can race an asynchronous skcipher receive operation with sendmsg(ALG_SET_IV) to disclose plaintext and compromise cryptographic operation integrity.
The described plaintext recovery applies to CTR/stream modes through IV/keystream reuse.
Remediation
Install update from vendor's website.
